AMD Ray Tracing will not support proprietary APIs games
The details of AMD ray tracing was shared on Overclock3D. We found some information about the implementation of ray tracing on RX 6000 series GPUs. A short announcement of AMD was reported by Overclock3D.
In this announcement, AMD confirmed that the new RX 6000 series GPUs will not support ray tracing in games, which have proprietary APIs. In the games which don’t have NVIDIA Vulkan RTX or DirectX RTX, AMD ray tracing will support.
AMD confirmed that their ray tracing will support in games with Vulkan ray tracing APIs and Microsoft DXR. We can expect both will slowly popular. DirectX DXR will also be supported by Intel. So the game developers will not give much focus on NVIDIA Vulkan RTX or DirectX RTX.
From this AMD announcement, it is clear that all games which have DirectX Ray tracing will be supported by RX 6000 GPUs. For example, the game named control has DXR feature, so it can be played with AMD GPU ray tracing but Wolfenstein Youngblood support NVIDIA RTX, so it can’t be played with AMD GPU ray tracing.
