Nvidia recently give a statement on Twitter to GamersNexus and confirmed they will develop a technology similar to AMD’s Smart Access Memory which is available with RX 6000 series graphics cards and Ryzen 5000 series processors.
AMD’s new Zen 3 based Ryzen 5000 series CPUs and RX 6000 series GPUs will support Smart Access Memory (SAM). It is a data channel that is placed between the processor and graphics card. It will able to take full advantage of the graphics card’s memory buffer.
On standard PC, this channel is unable to utilize the total memory buffer of the GPU. So with the Smart Access Memory, the performance will be improved. It is the main highlight of the Zen 3 processors and RDNA 2 graphics cards.
According to AMD, the simultaneous release of new processors and graphics cards is a great moment for the gamers. So now gamers can take the advantage of SAM. To get this feature, motherboards will need the updated firmware named AGESA 1.1.0.0.
Nvidia said this technology is a part of the PCIe specs. So it can be enabled on Ampere based graphics cards for both Intel and AMD CPUs. Nvidia’s this solution will work with both AMD and Intel CPUs.
