Nvidia Officials admitted in their forum that it was mainly bots who took part in the RTX 3080 sale within seconds of the online sale started. Many genuine buys were ready to get their hands on this beast that time, but the sale seemed to be over even before it started.
The same happened with PS5 Preorder and probably many other products also. The reason of this bot purchase is because of the price differential between retail price and the price people are willing to pay to collect rare and exclusive items.
Nvidia Staff explained this ‘unprecedented’ demand as work of ‘bot’ and ‘scalpers’ and said they will try to manually review orders and try to detect non legitimate ones which are not placed by real human.
This will be a really time consuming process and may not be very effective to clear out bots and scalpers, and people are actually looking forward to get Nvidia to push out their second wave of units into sale. But Nvidia officials did not give any official confirmation date as to when that may happen next.
Stay tuned with us and we will bring news to you how this manual order review is going for Nvidia and when will be their next sale date for RTX 3080, or any of the newly released RTX model, for that matter.
