Patrick Schur recently reported on Twitter that AMD’s upcoming GPU RX 6800 XT boost can be set to 2.5 GHz. During 3DMark 11 running, it can be set to more than 2.5 GHz. In this test, Patrick Schur uses ASUS ROG STRIX RX 6800 XT custom graphics card.
He claimed STRIX RX 6800 XT’s clock speed was exceeding 2.3 GHz more than 85% of the testing time. This is mentioned in an update of the original post.
These numbers coming just before the Radeon RX 6000 series (Big Navi) launching event. AMD is trying to match RX 6800 XT boost to Nvidia’s Ampere architecture based GeForce RTX 3080.
So we can expect RX 6900 XT will be matching to the Nvidia’s flagship card GeForce RTX 3090. Also, there is a chance to beat the RTX 3090 by AMD’s RX 6800 XT GPU.
The clock speeds of RX 6800 XT give us a clear idea about AMD’s approach. With the 7nm TSMC’s process, this graphics card can go beyond 2.5 GHz.
But can this GPU deliver a 2.5 GHz boost clock during Big Navi overclocking while gaming? After the launch event on 28th October, we will get a clear idea about the gaming performance of this GPU.
