Arm updates their Neoverse server processors lineup processor designs with the launch of the new architecture of N2 and V1 processor.
Neoverse is a server processor lineup from Arm. Arm claims the new design of these Neoverse server processors will provide 50% more performance by using a similar amount of power compared to the old generations.
Neoverse Server Processors Architecture
The architecture of V1 is for processor workloads, where the performance of a single thread is paramount. The V1 comes with SVE (scalable vector extensions). So it has an ability to handle HPC (high performance compute), some applications for machine learning, and Artificial intelligence.
The bfloat16, DDR5, connectivity of PCIe 5.0, HBM2e all these features supported by the V1 processor. It also supports CCIX 1.0, which can provide a bidirectional cache-coherent framework and a connection between chips.
N2 processor will come with 5nm technologies. This processor is not out yet. So until next year, there is no chance for releasing the N2 processor.
They will need some time to develop their new designs. Like the V1 processor, it will come with DDR5, PCIe 5.0, HBM3 along with both CXL 2.0 and CCIX 2.0 for fabrics.
Arm claims the V1 processor and the N2 processor will deliver up to 50% more performance compared to the old previous generation processors, using the same power.
