Its 4 days to go for the AMD 5950X release, but already benchmark scores have started coming and with it, the expectations of AMD lovers round the world. We will be talking about that in the content below, keep reading.
For those who are not following any AMD news or announcements, The Ryzen 9 5950x will have 16 cores and 32 threads, running on a base clock speed of 3.4GHz, which has a boost clock of 4.9 GHz.
AMD 5950x can use 4 Channels of DDR4 RAM of 3200 MHz, a total of 128 GB Memory. AMD Ryzen 9 5950x is based on the new Zen 3 architecture which will have a lower TDP of 105 Watt for a top level 16 core processor.
Before we proceed to the actual benchmark, SiSiftware disclaimer is that they did not obtain or verify the benchmark results by themselves but the result do not appear false or unrealistic.
This review / benchmark is uploaded to SANDRA Benchmarks database, available for public display. The system comprised of Windows 10 x64, latest graphics drivers and all available turbo mode and boost mode was enabled.
The benchmark clearly shows that AMD 5950x benchmark has performance superiority over the others. It has significant benchmark values over intel core i9-10900k and ryzen 9 3950x as well as Intel i9 10940X. Its younger brothers ryzen 5 5600x and all others in AMD ryzen 5000 series are due in giving similar results over their competitors in single threaded performance.
The AMD 5950x supports motherboards with AM4 Sockets. Although only PCI 4.0 supported motherboards will be able to use its full potential. Below are list of motherboards which were announced at first with x570 socket.
MSI has also informed that along with the x570 chipset, the A520 & B550 will also support the AMD 5950x out of the box. And the X470 & B450 will have limited support for 5950x socket after a bios update soon.
Gigabyte also announced that X570, B550, and A520 chipset based motherboards will have 5950x support and 450 chipsets will also have support in the future with Bios Update via Bios Q-Flash utility.
