The AMD Ryzen 5000U series is for Laptop and notebooks, this will be an OEM series and not to be sold separately. The total list of 5000U series Processors are :
The date of availability is not published yet. Still, it will be 2021 before we see any laptop powered by U series processors above.
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, Ryzen 7 5800X, Ryzen 9 5900X, and Ryzen 9 5950X processor have the same AM4 type socket.
The release date for all the AMD Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 technology processors is 5th November 2020 in the USA. UK launch will be well within this month, although the date is not announced yet. Other global release is unconfirmed at this moment, although expected to be available within 2020 across the globe.
AMD announced that with a new BIOS update the B550 and X570 chipset motherboards are fully compatible with the new 5000 series AMD processors. If you want to buy a new motherboard, then you will get the updated BIOS version out of the box.
But if you want to upgrade your processor, then you have to update the BIOS before the CPU installation. Click here for a dedicated Ryzen 9 5950X Motherboard list.
The X470 and B450 chipset motherboards will also get the BIOS update in January 2021. But the actual date of the BIOS update release is not confirmed yet. If you want to take full advantage of PCIe 4.0, then go with a Ryzen 5000 motherboard.
Suppose you want to build your powerful PC with the above Ryzen processors and a decent graphics card. In that case, you should go with an 80 plus platinum-certified 750W PSU. If you have a tight budget, then go with an 80 plus gold certified 750W PSU. You can choose your PSU from the following PSU list.
Only Ryzen 5 5600X processor comes with a wraith stealth cooler out of the box. But for overclocking, this cooler is not enough. So we are suggesting some air and liquid coolers for the new 5000 series processors. You choose from the following list.
A reviewer from a polish website named ITHardware publishes a review of AMD 5000 series CPUs. He used an MSI motherboard (MEG X570 ACE) and 2 stick of 16GB DDR4-3600 Ram. He also used an Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 Ti GPU.
This review starts with Ryzen 5 5600X CPU overclocking. The stable clock speed of this processor is 4.8 GHz. It does not give any trouble with 1.275V. He was unable to overclock. He set the CPU voltage to 1.4V. But the CPU was failed to go beyond the 4.9 GHz clock frequency.
He tested the Ryzen 5 5600X CPU in the Cinebench benchmark. In the single-core test, the CPU scored 600 benchmark points, and in the multi-core test, it scored 4521 benchmark points. This processor performed 17% faster in the single-core test, and 21% faster in the multi-core test compared to the previous-gen Ryzen 3 3600X CPU.
Next, he tested two benchmark tests with the help of a web browser. The name of these two tests is Kraken and Octane benchmarks test. We can see Ryzen 5600X clearly outperformed the previous-gen Intel and AMD processors.
PassMark recently published a benchmark result of AMD Ryzen 5 5600X desktop processor on its website. We can see this processor clearly beat all the other Intel and AMD processors including 10th gen Core i9-10900K (Comet Lake-S).
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X processor is the top position holder in this benchmark test (single threaded). It scored 3495 benchmark points compared to the Intel Core i9-10900K CPU. AMD Ryzen 5 5600X processor performed a 10% better performance than the Core i9-10900K.
A YouTuber named Pichau runs far Cry 5 game with AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, Ryzen 7 5800X, and Ryzen 9 5900X processor. He used Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card. With the Full HD setting, Ryzen 5 5600X produced a maximum of 127fps and a minimum of 70fps.
The Ryzen 7 5800X delivered a maximum of 132fps and a minimum of 76fps. The Ryzen 9 5900X delivered a performance of a maximum of 133fps and a minimum of 77fps. So with these processors, the Far Cry 5 game can run smoothly.
If you want more fps, then you should go with a better graphics card than GeForce RTX 3070. For more fps, our recommendation is Nvidia RTX 3080.
This processor lineup was released on 5th November 2020. You can buy any of these processors from Amazon, Newegg, and B&H. You will get a free copy of the Far Cry 6 game with Ryzen 7 5800X, Ryzen 9 5900X, and Ryzen 9 5950X processor. You will receive the Far Cry 6 game after the launch.
If you want the best deal, then you should go with AMD Ryzen 7 5800X processor. The price of this processor is $449, which is less expensive compared to the other two processors. So get the new Ryzen 7 5800X processor and Far Cry 6 game just for $449. This is the best deal according to us.
From November 5th, 2020 the new AMD Ryzen 5000 series will be ready to order and ship in the United States. The launch date in other countries is not specified, but that will not be long due. And for the USA, the processors are likely to get into the hands of game lovers within the first week of its order.
The all new Ryzen 5000 Series supports the PCI Express version 4.0, the latest version of PCI Express chipset that motherboards need to be equipped with. The main advantage of this version is that a 180% increase in the bandwidth and data transfer speed.
Although the current version of PCI Express 3.0 provides an adequate bandwidth, it is likely to get backdated soon enough.
The new PCI Express version 4.0 has 40 PCIe lanes, resulting in improved performance in gaming and multimedia applications. But only a handful of motherboards support it. Mostly the new motherboards of the X570 chipset have this technology inbuilt. At the same time, some of the motherboards from the B450 and X470 series may enable this option through bios and firmware upgrades.
B&H is proudly showing the new 5000 series on their homepage and listed these processors as pre-orderable and users can get notified where they are ready to be ordered. There is no discount or special offer listed on the website for this series as the demand for these products is very high. The prices are as below :
So far the sale of Ryzen 5000 Series has not started yet, but all the processors are in demand. Even the lowest of the bunch, AMD Ryzen 5 5600x can even outperform Intel’s top tier i9 10900k, so it is expected to be sold quite a lot of numbers.
But Newegg has tagged the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz 12-Core AM4 Processor as the #1 Seller in the category, so it is safe to assume this processor is being added to the wishlist the most. The actual number can be specified only after the first quarter of the sale.
Where B&H has taken a direct approach for selling, Newegg has made all the processors out of stock, and the users can not be notified on the availability of them like B&H. However, Newegg has combined them with motherboards, graphics cards, and rams. And in this combo, users can enable notifications.
Where B&H had no option to see how many people have enabled notifications for each processor, Newegg has the number of Wishlists visible for all processors of AMD Ryzen 5000 Series.
All of these numbers are as seen on 12-32 PM EDT Time. So again the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X is the most popular of them all.
AMD Generic Encapsulated Software Architecture or AGESA is the software architecture that is used by AMD to communicate with motherboards. With every Zen architecture, a newer version of Agesa is released. The latest version is 0.0.7.0, codename ComboAM4 PI, which was released in March 2019.
Newer AM4 architectures can use the latest version of Agesa and Power Tuning, which improves the throughput ratio of AMD 5000 Series processors.
eBuyer is one of the biggest online shopping websites for Electronics, and they also have listed all 4 processors on their website. The availability of every individual processor is not revealed yet, but only the AMD Ryzen 7 5800x has a price tag and an expected stocking date of 27th November 2020.
Although AMD did not announce an official date for the UK release, from the listing of eBuyer UK, it is evident that it will be before 27th November of 2020.
